La Long Tail
Il Diagramma, è la rappresentazione grafica del Principio di Pareto.
Questo principio è sintetizzabile nell’affermazione:
“La maggior parte degli effetti ( asse y ) sono dovuti ad un numero ristretto di cause ( asse x ), considerando grandi numeri”.
Il diagramma di Pareto può aiutare a stabilire quali sono i maggiori fattori che hanno influenza su un dato fenomeno. Sull’ asse x troviamo il fattore ( effetti ) mentre, sull’asse y troviamo l’incidenza ( cause ).
Esempi:
di solito,
- L’ 80% dei risultati ( asse y ) dipende dal 20% delle cause ( asse x );
- L’ 80% delle ricchezze ( asse y ) è in mano al 20% della popolazione ( asse x );
- Il 20% dei venditori ( asse x ) fa l’80% delle vendite ( asse y ), ed il restante 80% dei commerciali fa solo il 20% delle vendite;
- L’ 80% dei reclami ( asse y ) proviene dal 20% dei clienti ( asse x );
- L’ 80% della popolarità ( asse y ) proviene da 20% dei prodotti ( asse x );
- L’ 80% della visibilità ( asse y ) risiede nel 20% del totale dei siti indicizzati da Google ( asse x ).
Proprio nella frase in rosso bisogna fare un’analisi. In internet, se ci basiamo solo sui blog, ne troviamo circa 100 milioni, stima di Technorati. Un numero vastissimo di blog che Google indicizza. Ma nella SERP chi prevale?
La funzione dello spider di Google utilizza, si dice, 200 variabili con i relativi pesi. Molti sono quindi gli indicatori che Google considera per stabilire la graduatoria dei siti nella Search Engine Report Page.
Fattore importantissimo è sicuramente il tempo. I risultati della SERP sono funzione del tempo;

Oggi sono in prima posizione, domani posso essere in ultima.
Cosa possiamo notare da questo? L’inclusione dei blogs nel concetto di goods e quindi la sottomissione alle loro teorie, specialmente ad una.
Anche i blog sono seguono la “ Teoria del ciclo di vita dei prodotti ”. Proprio nel momento in cui la tua posizione nella SERP evolve, significa che qualcosa è cambiato.
Identificando internet come un mercato quasi tradizionale, ad es. l’ingresso di un nuovo concorrente ha ridotto la tua quota di mercato e tu oggi ti trovi a vendere di meno rispetto a prima, in internet, l’ingresso di un blog concorrente, che magari tratta le tue stesse tematiche, perché costruito meglio e altro, nella SERP ti sorpassa.
La tua azienda ha perso quote di mercato che tradotto in linguaggio net, il tuo blog ha perso in visibilità e nel caso dei blog questo succede dall’oggi al domani, diciamo che in internet è più frequente.
Cosa fare in questi casi, siamo veramente nella fase di declino? Come posso agire?
Innanzitutto bisogna capire in che fase si trova il nostro Corporate blog nel Diagramma del Ciclo di Vita dei Prodotti:

Due sono le classiche strategie aziendali: Restyling o Cambiamento.
Nel primo caso le aziende operano con un “ Business Process Improvement ” mentre nel secondo caso si usa il “ Business Process Rengineering ”.
- BPI: Si procede ad un restyling del blog aziendale cercando di ottimizzarlo per i motori di ricerca ( Web CEO puo’ darvi un aiuto per l’analisi dei risultati ).
- BPR: Mi rendo conto che il mio blog aziendale è nella fase di maturità e che un restyling avrebbe poca vita, decido di riprogettare il blog e parto da zero.
Tipicamente un BPI è meno oneroso di un BPR ma è un costo che possiamo classificare come “prevedibile”. Costo per mantenimento blog, costo allocato all’ area MarCom ( Strategical Marketing, Communication ).
Abbiamo così cambiato il nostro bel blog aziendale. Possiamo stare tranquilli?
La risposta è: SERP = f( t )
Il tempo regola la concorrenza nel mercato internet perché nel tempo possono maturare condizioni tali per cui la supremazia cambia. Consideriamo la strategia di nicchia, faccio una sola cosa ma la faccio sempre meglio, seguiamo la ” Teoria del miglioramento continuo “, ( Kaizen ).
In questo caso può essere vincente. Ed è proprio questa teoria che ha permesso e permette tutt’ora a piccoli blog di avvicinarsi di molto ad i grandi blog.
Vincente è quindi un blog fatto bene in tutte le sue componenti.
Nella categoria “ BLOG a puntate ” troverete tutte la caratteristiche che deve avere il vostro blog per essere un blog di successo. Ogni caratteristica se curata bene e sottomessa al principio del “ Miglioramento Continuo “ ossia “ Plan, Do, Check, Act “ anche conosciuta come teoria del Total Quality Management, permetterà di allungare nel tempo il ciclo di vita del vostro blog.
